Noah Kahan Releases 'Draw You Out' For Hunger Games Prequel

Noah Kahan will release his single 'Draw You Out' on October 2. The full 29-track album, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album), arrives on November 13. Both are tied to Lionsgate’s upcoming prequel film, which opens in theaters everywhere on November 20.

The song is written specifically for and inspired by the film. Kahan reunited with Grammy-winning producer Aaron Dessner, who co-wrote and co-produced the track. Recording took place at New York’s Long Pond Studio, Nashville’s Gold Pacific Studios, and East Iris Studios.

On Instagram, Kahan said this was something he had always wanted to do. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to write for the moving film, having adored the works of Suzanne Collins. He stated he was already totally connected and inspired by the tragic yet hopeful story of Haymitch and Lenore Dove. Writing a song about the purpose, grief and perseverance through pain that they exemplify was an experience he would always be grateful for. He called it an incredible film and said he was honored to be a small part of it.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping prequel film is set for theatrical release on November 20. The film follows a young Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games, the second Quarter Quell. For these games, twice the usual number of tributes were selected: two boys and two girls from each district.

Joseph Zada will portray a younger version of Haymitch Abernathy. Whitney Peak will play Lenore Dove, Haymitch's love interest. The film also stars Ben Wang, McKenna Grace, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

Returning franchise characters are played by a new cast. Ralph Fiennes plays President Snow. Kieran Culkin plays Caesar Flickerman. Elle Fanning plays Effie Trinket. Jesse Plemons plays Plutarch Heavensbee. Glen Close plays chaperone Drusilla Sickle. Billy Porter plays stylist Magno Stift, who is also Drusilla Sickle’s onscreen husband. The film is based on the latest book by Suzanne Collins.

Album content and context

The album brings together 29 cross-genre artists. It includes previously unreleased music, exclusive to the album and specific to the film. It will also feature songs heard in previous Hunger Games films like 'Deep in the Meadow' and 'The Old Therebefore'. The album is executive produced by Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb, who has worked with artists like Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson.

This continues the franchise's tradition of featuring original music from prominent artists. Taylor Swift wrote 'Safe and Sound' with The Civil Wars for the first film. Lorde wrote 'Yellow Flicker Beat' for Mockingjay Part 1. More recently, Olivia Rodrigo wrote 'Can’t Catch Me Now' for the fifth film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

Historical and franchise background

The story centers on Haymitch Abernathy, a Hunger Games winner turned mentor from the same district as Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of the original trilogy played by Jennifer Lawrence. The new film adapts Collins's latest book, diving into the history of the 50th Hunger Games.

Noah Kahan is a 29-year-old, two-time Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum singer-songwriter. He recently performed Simon & Garfunkel’s 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' at the 2026 Emmys for the In Memoriam segment. His Netflix documentary, Noah Kahan: Out of Body, premiered at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival in March before releasing on the streamer in April.
