Tom Hardy Raps as Bane on New Album
Tom Hardy uses his Bane voice from The Dark Knight Rises on a rap track from his debut album, reciting Shakespeare in character.
Tom Hardy has resurrected his Bane voice from 2012's The Dark Knight Rises for a rap song on his debut album. The album, Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer, was released on August 28 and features 15 songs.
The track is called "Grim-Visaged War" and has been shared on the Czarface YouTube channel. In it, Hardy recites a monologue from Shakespeare's Richard III using the distinctive voice of the Nolan trilogy villain. Hardy previously recorded hip-hop music in the late 1990s under the name Tommy No. 1.
Bane's Enduring Legacy
The voice became a major talking point when The Dark Knight Rises first premiered. It was unexpected and unlike Hardy's natural speaking voice. The original sound mix also made Bane's dialogue difficult to understand, prompting director Christopher Nolan to later update it for clarity.
Despite some considering it a disappointment compared to 2008's The Dark Knight, the film was a massive commercial success. It grossed $1.085 billion worldwide. This made it Nolan's highest-grossing film until it was recently surpassed by The Odyssey (2026), which has grossed $1.458 billion and counting.
Hardy's Recent Projects
While exploring music, Hardy remains primarily an actor. His most recent notable project is the MobLand TV show on Paramount+, where he plays lead character Harry Da Souza. The show's second season premieres on the streamer on September 18.
In film, his latest was Netflix's 2025 action thriller Havoc, directed by Gareth Evans. Before that, he concluded his role as Eddie Brock in Venom: The Last Dance (2024). Hardy is currently attached to a heist thriller titled 77 Blackout, which will also star Mahershala Ali.
The album Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer is a collaboration with Inspectah Deck, 7L, and Esoteric, who form the group Czarface. Hardy's return to the Bane persona, even briefly for a music project, highlights the character's lasting cultural impact fourteen years after the film's release.
