Wheel of Time Board Game War of the Dragon Launches 2027

The Dark One, the primary antagonist of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time fantasy series, is returning in an official new release. Dire Wolf's upcoming board game, War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time, is scheduled to begin shipping to U.S. Backers in the first half of 2027.

The game, which has been fully funded through a Kickstarter campaign that raised over 1.1 million dollars, allows players to determine the outcome of the series' climactic Last Battle. In this two-player strategy game, either Rand al'Thor or the Dark One can emerge victorious, offering an alternate ending to the one presented in the final novel, A Memory of Light.

War of the Dragon draws material from all 14 main Wheel of Time novels. Its playable narrative begins around the events of The Shadow Rising, after the fall of the Stone of Tear.
