Disney+ Previews Lavish K-Drama The Remarried Empress
Disney+ releases a special look featurette for its 2026 Korean fantasy series The Remarried Empress, starring Shin Min-a and Ju Ji-hoon.
Disney+ will release a special preview featurette for its upcoming Korean romantic fantasy series The Remarried Empress on Wednesday at 4 p.m. KST. The streamer says the featurette includes new footage and behind-the-scenes interviews with the show's stars.
The series is a big-budget adaptation of a popular Naver Webtoon, which has garnered nearly 3 billion views globally. It stars Shin Min-a as Empress Navier, whose marriage to Emperor Sovieshu, played by Ju Ji-hoon, fractures when he becomes infatuated with a runaway slave girl portrayed by Lee Se-young. As palace dynamics shift, Navier finds herself drawn to Crown Prince Heinrey, played by Lee Jong-suk.
Behind the Scenes Preview
The new featurette also includes interviews with director Cho Su-won and screenwriter Yeoh Geena. They discuss the show's elaborate production design. The creative team scouted 16 real castles across France, Germany, and the Czech Republic to find locations matching the webtoon's scale.
Disney stated that producing this featurette reflects the high anticipation for the series. The company noted this is the first time it has created such an elaborate preview for a Korean show. A full trailer released last week gained over 13 million views on YouTube and social media within 48 hours.
Release Schedule and Festival Premiere
The series will debut with its first four episodes on Disney+ and Hulu on November 4. Following that, two new episodes will be released each Wednesday through November 25.
Before its streaming launch, The Remarried Empress will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in early October. Three episodes, with a combined runtime of 151 minutes, will screen in the festival's On Screen section.
