Disney's Homework List for Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel recommends 15 Disney+ titles for viewers to watch before the new Avengers film

Films: Marvel recommends 15 Disney+ titles for viewers to watch before the new Avengers film

Avengers: Doomsday is the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with its release comes a recommended homework list of 15 titles from the Disney+ catalogue.

One of the criticisms levelled at Marvel and the MCU is that it has become preferable to have watched a bunch of previous films and TV shows to fully comprehend what's going on in the latest movie. This isn't unique to Marvel, but the MCU's denseness has made it a main proponent of this trend.

Interestingly, Marvel is leaning into this trend by releasing a revision list of 14 films and one TV series that it suggests viewers revisit ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday. All of these titles are available on the Disney+ service.

The list includes a mix of Marvel movies, including X-Men, Captain America, and Avengers films, as well as some unexpected titles like Geostorm and Crank 2: High Voltage.

## The Homework List

| Title | Type | | --- | --- | | X-Men | Film | | X2 | Film | | Captain America: The First Avenger | Film | | The Avengers | Film | | The Cook The Thief His Wife And Her Lover | Film | | Avengers: Infinity War | Film | | Avengers: Endgame | Film | | Loki | TV Series | | Geostorm | Film | | Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings | Film | | Spider-Man: No Way Home | Film | | Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | Film | | Captain America: Brave New World | Film | | Dredd (2012) | Film | | Deadpool & Wolverine | Film | | Superman IV: The Quest For Peace | Film | | Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness | Film | | Thunderbolts* | Film | | Crank 2: High Voltage | Film | | The Fantastic Four: First Steps | Film |

While there's no indication as to why viewers need to watch all of these titles, the list includes some fine films. The release of Avengers: Doomsday coincides with the release of Dune: Part Three, and it's likely that there are a few films worth watching or rewatching ahead of that too.

Viewers can expect to spend around 40 hours plus watching the recommended titles. While this may seem daunting, it's worth noting that the list is not compulsory, and viewers can choose which titles to watch ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday.

It remains to be seen how viewers will respond to this recommended homework list. Will it enhance their viewing experience, or will it feel like an unnecessary burden? Only time will tell.
